Bookkeeper (Temp-to-Hire)

$25-$30/hour
Our nonprofit client, located in downtown Baltimore, is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with nonprofit experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is comfortable leveraging technology and automated processes to improve efficiency.
This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule, exposure to a mission-driven organization, and the opportunity to grow into a permanent position.
Responsibilities
- Process and enter invoices accurately and timely
- Support Accounts Payable activities using Bill.com
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Assist with administrative and operational support as needed
- Support process improvements and accounting automation initiatives
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and operations team
- Research and resolve discrepancies while ensuring data accuracy
Qualifications
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience required
- Nonprofit accounting experience required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Comfortable working with financial systems and automated workflows
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fund accounting
- Experience using Sage Intacct
- Experience using Bill.com
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position
- Flexible schedule (8:30 AM-4:30 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM)
- Hybrid work arrangement:
- In-office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Remote: Monday and Friday
- Casual office environment
- Employer-paid parking provided
Compensation & Benefits
- $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience
- Opportunity to convert to a permanent position
